Accounts 2021-22

The accounts were presented by Pete Wescott. A copy of the complete figures is appended to these minutes. . The accounts showed that there was a starting balance of £1180.05, league fees of £1440 paid and expenditure of £1838. The closing balance was £782.06.

The league fees had been reduced to £60 per team for last season as there was a large surplus from 2020. This had been due to the the shortfall in planned expenditure resulting from the cancellation of the final fixtures, finals and presentation night.

Spend on trophies for last season was very low due to re-use and relabelling of some trophies which were not presented in 2020.

It was noted that there was no spend this season on stamps. All communication is now done through email and the new website. The website costs £5 per month and is seen as excellent value for money.

League Fees 2021-22

In order to ensure sufficient funds to cover the foreseen costs and cost increases next season, Pete proposed that the league fee be raised to £80 for 2022-23 season. This was agreed by all without debate.

Formation of League

There will be 24 teams in the league for the next season – all teams which played in 2021-22 will be returning. No other entries have been put forward.

In order to ensure two divisions of 12 teams, 2 promotions and 3 relegations were agreed as:-

Promoted: Pornstars; Split Pins

Relegated: Wyndham Arms; S Club 8; Hit & Hopes

This will give:-

Division 1:                        Division 2

  • Dolphins moving from Stoke Club Top Alley to Bottom Alley.

The season will commence on Friday 23rd September.

The Nomination Cup will be reinstated and first round will be held on Friday 9th December. There will be no Nomination Shield or Memorial Cup.

Election of Officials for 2021-22

The current paid officials Barry Cullimore, Pete Wescott and Steve Lonton have indicated willingness to continue  their roles for next season. Graeme Whittle will continue as Vice-Chairman. There are currently no other committee members. Barry Cullimore made a plea for more people to come forward as the league is highly dependent on Steve Lonton and Pete Wescott and there is no obvious cover if either should need to be replaced for any reason.

Graham Brimble agreed to join the Committee.

It was proposed that the existing roles of President and Vice-President be removed. The roles have become completely redundant due to the much less formal structure of the league and the absence of regular committee meetings or any disciplinary actions. This was agreed by the meeting.

New Committee 2022-23

Chairman                               Barry Cullimore

Vice Chairman                       Graeme Whittle

Match Secretary                    Steve Lonton

Treasurer/Secretary             Pete Wescott

Committee Member              Graham Brimble

Any Other Business

  1. The missing players rule introduced for last season was discussed. After some debate it was agreed that the rule should only apply when 6 or 7 players in a team are present. If more than two players are missing, a score of 30 will be assigned to the third and following missing players. The rule will be updated accordingly.
  2. It was proposed that the issue of fixture books be cut back to save costs. A figure of 100 books (4 per team) was indicated. Team captains will be asked, at the pre-season fixture book collection meeting, how many books they want. If more than 100 are needed, a second print run will be requested. The meeting was happy with this arrangement.
  3. The current “line rule” was discussed amicably. It was agreed that no changes to the rules or its application are required. Officiators at cup finals will ensure that the rule is explained to all players before these matches start so that no one is in any doubt.

There being no further business the meeting closed at 8-45 pm.

Pete Wescott
