Minutes of Annual General Meeting 2026

The meeting was chaired by Barry Cullimore.

Accounts 2025-
The accounts were presented by Pete Wescott. A copy of the complete figures is appended to these minutes. . The accounts showed that there was a starting balance of £188.10, league fees of £3120 paid and expenditure of £2687.97. The closing balance was £440.13.
Treasurer Pete Wescott stated that the financial situation is much improved from last season – due to the increase in fees to £130 per team. With the continuing increase in costs of trophies and food for presentation night and cup semi-finals and finals Pete proposed to keep to the £130 for next season. The proposal was carried with no votes against.
There is a continuing expenditure item of £5 per month for hosting the website. This is regarded as highly worthwhile and the contract will be continued. The account itself is also now subject to a minimum £4.25 per month administration fee. This now applies to all “community” accounts irrespective of the bank so cannot be avoided.
Formation of League
Remarkably, we have received request from two new team to join the league next season. They will be based at the Rose & Crown, Bower Hinton (Rosie’s Rogues) and the Duke of York, Shepton Beauchamp (Yorkies – this is a different Yorkies – the team formerly known as Yorkies is now the Rusty Axe!)
Pending guarantees from both new team of their participation, they will both be accepted into the league.
This, therefore, means there will be 26 teams next season – two divisions of 13 teams.
The league will be made up as follows:-

The Nomination Cup and Shield competitions plus the Knockout Cup and Coronation Cup will continue. It was agreed by all that the Stickers Up Cup will definitely be held again this season but the feeling was that it needed to be on a Friday Night not Saturday as the numbers were much reduced from last year.
It was further agreed that all semi-finals and finals will be held on Friday evenings.
The season will commence on Friday 5th September. Steve Lonton will produce the fixtures for discussion and approval by the Committee.
Election of Officials for 2025-26
Barry Cullimore, who has been Chairman since 2018 has now stood down from the Committee. He was warmly thanked for his nearly 40 years serving the league as General Secretary and Chairman. Graham Brimble has agreed to take over for next season.
Pete Wescott and Steve Lonton have indicated willingness to continue their roles for next season. Graeme Whittle will continue as Vice-Chairman.
Darren Cousins “volunteered” to join the Committee. All other Committee members will continue.

Remuneration
It was proposed by Pete Wescott that remuneration for Secretary/Treasurer and Fixture Secretary be increased to £400 next season. Pete pointed out that the remuneration had been unchanged for the last 7 years. The proposal was agreed with no one against.

Any Other Business
- There was some discussion regarding the inclusion of “ringers” in cup competitions. It was agreed that bringing in several new players at a very late stage of the season purely for cup matches, though not strictly forbidden under existing rules, goes against the spirit of the league. As the league no longer enforces registration of players, policing this could be tricky. However the prevailing feeling was that there should be a rule to cover this. If a team is found to have been in breach of the rule then they should be disqualified from that competition. The Committee was tasked with drafting a new rule forbidding teams bringing in new players for the KO and Coronation Cup competition. POST MEETING NOTE: The new rule 10 is shown on the next page.
- Pete Wescott stated that ALL permanent trophies will continue be retained and kept in a display cabinet at Stoke Club. Steve Marsh asked if teams could take trophies home by request. Pete agreed that this would be acceptable if it could be guaranteed that the trophy would be returned as soon as possible.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 8-40 pm.

RULE 10 Previous Text:
All players must be registered with the Match Secretary a minimum of 24 hours before the match. No player registered with one team may play for another before transfer is notified to and agreed by the Committee. In exceptional circumstances an unregistered player may play with the agreement of the opposing captain before the match providing the player has not played for another team in the League. The player may then not play for another team for that season
RULE 10 New Text:
If any player wishes to transfer to another team during the current season, the captain of the team to which he/she is transferring, shall inform the Match Secretary before they play for the new team. ALL players who participate in a Knockout Cup or Coronation Cup match MUST have previously played at least THREE league matches for that team in the current season. Any team found to have breached this rule will be disqualified. In exceptional circumstances only, the committee will allow an appeal under Rule 22.
