Accounts 2024-25
The accounts were presented by Pete Wescott. A copy of the complete figures is appended to these minutes. . The accounts showed that there was a starting balance of £384.32, league fees of £2500 paid and expenditure of £2510.20. The closing balance was £221.90.
Treasurer Pete Wescott stated that the financial situation is not good as there will be further expenditure of around £160 required before any league fee income is received into the account. With the continuing increase in costs of trophies and food for presentation night and cup semi-finals and finals a large increase in fees is essential to keep the account afloat. Pete therefore proposed an increase for next season to £130. The proposal was carried with no votes against.
There is a continuing expenditure item of £5 per month for hosting the website. This is regarded as highly worthwhile and the contract will be continued. The account itself is also now subject to a £4.25 per month administration fee. This now applies to all “community” accounts irrespective of the bank so cannot be avoided.
Formation of League
We have, sadly, lost the Hit & Hopes for next season. This is due to insufficient players to remain viable. They have been part of the league for well over 30 years, always great and sporting opposition and they will be sadly missed.
This, therefore, means there will be 24 teams next season – two divisions of 12 teams. Hit & Hopes were Division 2 winners so promotions and relegations were agreed as:-
Promoted: S Club 8
Relegated: Stoke Buoys, Lamb Shanks
This will give:-
DIVISION 1 DIVISION 2
Stoke WMC Dolphins
VIPs Lamb Shanks (NOW SWAN SHANKS)
Duke of York Lamb & Larks
Bakers Rogues Rosies Rebels
Seahawks Hotspots
Pornstars Thorns & Roses
Bakers Big Arms Mucky Ducks
Nelson Nomads Lord Nelson
Nobbys Nuts Ham Boys
Monkey Spankers Stoke Buoys
S Club 8 Split Pins
Yorkies (NOW RUSTY AXE) Mandys Bell Boys
Thorns & Roses have indicated that they will, next season, be playing their home games at the ROSE & CROWN, EAST LAMBROOK
The MiniLeague which ran last season will not be continued as the fixture schedule will no longer allow it.
The Nomination Cup and Shield competitions plus the Knockout Cup and Coronation Cup will continue. It was agreed by all that the Stickers Up Cup held for the first time last season was a great success and will definitely be held again this season.
It was further agreed that all semi-finals will be revert to Friday evenings.
The season will commence on Friday 12th September.
Election of Officials for 2025-26
The current paid officials Barry Cullimore, Pete Wescott and Steve Lonton have indicated willingness to continue their roles for next season. Graeme Whittle will continue as Vice-Chairman.
Pete Wescott made the point that the league is currently dangerously dependent, for its running, on himself and Steve Lonton Both the maintenance of the website and the online bank account require some (fairly basic) computer skills. Pete hoped that a volunteer to “shadow” his work would present themselves so that there can be some continuity in the event of him being incapacitated at any point. A communication will be sent round asking for such a volunteer.
The current committee members have agreed to continue. Stewart Seery volunteered to join the Committee and was warmly welcomed.
Chairman Barry Cullimore
Vice Chairman Graeme Whittle
Match Secretary Steve Lonton
Treasurer/Secretary Pete Wescott
Committee 2025-26: Graham Brimble (Stoke WMC)
Sean Monaghan (Roses & Thorns)
Roger Lee (Duke of York)
Stewart Seery (Seahawks)
Remuneration
It was agreed that remuneration stay the same as last season:-
Secretary/Treasurer: £350
Fixture Secretary: £350
Charman £50
Any Other Business
- The rule regarding “rollover” of scoring in the event of the last hand AND the fifth hand being tied was clarified. The rule that the previous hand scores decide the allocation continues back until a hand was won.
- It was agreed that, if a team wishes to have additional players skittling after the 8 team members have played, this should be agreed between the Captains beforehand. This is because some away teams use buses for transport and need to get away by a reasonable time. A communication to all Captains will be sent at the start of the season.
- There was some discussion on the handing out of trophies at Presentation Night. Most teams are still keen to have such trophies. A minority (mainly those who win things frequently…) thought that a monetary substitute or charitable donation, could be chosen. Pete Wescott said that he would ask Captains to state a preference before the annual trophies are ordered next season.
- Pete Wescott stated that ALL permanent trophies will now be retained and kept in a display cabinet at Stoke Club. If, in future, any team wishes to have a physical reminder of their achievement on display, a framed “Certificate” will be provided on request.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 8-40 pm.
